What is Creative Psychotherapy?
Where are you stuck in your life? What's inhibiting your vision and vitality? How do experiences of trauma inform the day to day experience of your life?
The causes and symptoms of suffering are many and varied. Suffering may show up as depression, anxiety, phobias, intrusive thoughts, low self esteem, or feelings of meaninglessness and powerlessness. Psychotherapy is a whole life (holistic) engagement, supporting movement towards preferred ways of being in the world.
Creative Psychotherapy encompasses a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, allowing a sensitive, collaborative response to clients. A creative psychotherapy exploration might encompass art making, talk therapy, or something else.
Creative psychotherapy is person centred and collaborative. Creative exploration assists seeing narratives clearly, creating and enacting new stories.
The process of therapeutic work is to bring awareness to fixed beliefs and habituated ways of being. Awareness becomes a tool to gain self acceptance, create new meanings from life events and regain a sense of direction and purpose. Stuckness and trauma's roots occur in the past. Therapy occurs in the present moment, working to activate the clients own resources to support healing.
There is no requirement to be 'artistic' to work creatively. Come exactly as you are.
